Carole Levin and Patricia A. Simpson discuss the exhibition Beyond Eve and Mary: Premodern Representations of Gender, Power, and Religion, which they co-organized. The exhibition encourages visitors to delve beyond pictorial tropes of Eve and Mary to see the multifaceted portrayal of gender in the premodern period (pre 1800).

Levin is Willa Cather Professor Emerita of History and Simpson is a professor of German at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
