What makes a Sheldon wedding unique?
  • Sheldon Museum of Art is an architecturally significant building with an internationally recognized collection of art. Unless otherwise specified, galleries will be open during your event so that guests may experience the whole museum. Due to the complexities of safely moving works of art, we are unable to accommodate requests for adding or removing certain works from the galleries or Great Hall.
How much does it cost to book a wedding?
  • Fees differ based on the room (or rooms) you want to utilize, the type and scope of your day, and the length of time you need the space. Sheldon has different wedding packages to consider. Contact the events team for a personalized estimate.
  • In addition to a rental fee, you will also be responsible for staffing costs. Sheldon staff will always be on site during your event to help things run smoothly and to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.
  • For all indoor events, the cost of your rental includes use of our tables, chairs, and other furnishings.
  • The cost of renting Sheldon does not include: catering fees, linens, décor, and furniture needed to supplement our existing inventory.
Does Sheldon require specific caterers?
  • You are welcome to work with professional caterers of your choosing. The events team is happy to supply a list of recommendations.
  • For alcohol services, the University of Nebraska specifies a certain list of vendors. Our staff will help you connect with those suppliers.
What are the rules regarding photography?
  • Wedding photography and videography are permitted in the Great Hall, board room, and outdoors. Staged photography in the galleries is limited to the wedding couple and photographer only. No flash photography is permitted in the galleries.
