This exhibition features a selection of new works on paper acquired by Sheldon Museum of Art since 2016. Aligning with the museum’s strengths in postwar and contemporary objects, these prints, drawings, and photographs were made between the late 1940s and the 2010s.

Together, they present a wide range of techniques and address important and timely issues, such as personal and cultural identity, political unrest, and climate change, while also reflecting the artists’ engagement with the art historical canon. Of the sixteen artists represented in this installation, nine are women or people of color, affirming Sheldon’s commitment to collect work by historically underrepresented groups and expanding the breadth of conversations that art can engender.
