Rebecca Nagle, the winner of the 2025 Stubbendieck Great Plains Distinguished Book Prize, will give a talk about her book as part of the Center for Great Plains Studies’ Paul A. Olson lecture series. The book, By the Fire We Carry: The Generations-Long Fight for Justice on Native Land (Harper Collins Publishers), recounts the generations-long fight for tribal land and sovereignty in eastern Oklahoma by chronicling both the contemporary legal battle and historic acts of Indigenous resistance.

The talk is free and open to the public, and the book will be available for purchase at the event.
