Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture: Julia Blaut

Julia Blaut, senior director of curatorial affairs at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, will deliver a lecture about Rauschenberg’s enduring legacy with special attention to his prints and Leo Steinberg’s concept of the flatbed picture plane. This lecture is presented in conjunction with Sheldon’s exhibition Robert Rauschenberg and the Flatbed Picture Plane and the centennial of the artist's birth.

About Julia Blaut:

Julia Blaut is senior director of curatorial affairs at the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation. A graduate of Smith College, the Institute of Fine Arts, NYU, and the Whitney Independent Study Program, Blaut was formerly assistant curator at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, where she worked on Rauschenberg's late-career retrospective. She has curated, taught, and published in the field of postwar American art.
