Teach-in with Monique Ekaete Bassey

Saturday, June 6, 2026 - 2:00PM to 03:00PM Sheldon Museum of Art

The MASK We Wear, the Questions We ASK: Rethinking the American Promise is a teach-in led by Monique Ekaete Bassey focusing on the ways artworks included in Hyphen American: Intersections of Identity reveal how American ideals are often hidden or disguised through myth, selective history, or romanticized imagery, while also showing resilience and the possibility of hope once those coverings are removed. By unmasking what has been hidden, we create space not only for accountability, but for reimagining a more just and hopeful future.

This event is free and open to everyone 16 years and older. Space is limited and registration is required.
