Campus art museums like Sheldon support critical thinking, inquiry, different learning styles, and a range of skills, such as observation, communication, and visual literacy, as well as contribute to thematic conversations across disciplines and fields of study. The museum’s informal learning environment is conducive to inclusion and collaboration, exploration and creativity, and multiple perspectives and growing empathy.
As a primary campus resource for experiential learning, innovative teaching, and research, we:
- curate our collections to generate and contextualize challenging conversations and promote intellectual exploration,
- cross disciplinary boundaries and connect diverse schools of thought to bring forth new understanding and multiple perspectives, and
- integrate our programming into academic life on campus.
